Frontiers of Biomedical Engineering (BENG 100) Professor Saltzman introduces the simple ideas of renal physiology. Professor Saltzman 1st introduces the function and anatomy of the kidney. Specific interest is provided to the cell varieties and structural aspect of the nephron, the functional unit of the kidney. Filtration, secretion of toxic waste, and reabsorption of water, ions, and nutrients by means of the glomerulus and several segments of the nephrons is discussed in detail. Ultimately, Professor Saltzman describes glomerular filtration rate as a function of pressure drop, which is regulated by afferent and efferent arterioles, to control how a lot volume becoming filtered through glomerulus. 00:00 – Chapter 1.   12. I love your videos. I like how you teach with clam tone. This really allows us (learner) to process the information because education does require thinking and when you speak slower we take time to lock the information in our brain and not just memorize everything you say. Thank for your videos!
